英文摘要 | With the increasingly severe foreign situation and the cyclical adjustment of the domestic economy, the stability and development of Chinese economy are facing unprecedented pressure and challenges. In response to external risks and internal uncertainties, improving economic resilience has become a key measure to ensure the stable operation of the economy. Since the reform and opening up, various regions in China have demonstrated different economic resilience, but there are obvious differences between regions. Exploring a more resilient regional economic development model is of great practical significance for promoting high-quality economic development. Innovation is an important driving force for improving regional economic resilience, but a single innovation model cannot cope with a complex and changing environment. Dual innovation, represented by utilization innovation and exploratory innovation, can take into account both short-term efficiency and long-term breakthroughs, and is an important path to improve regional economic resilience. Therefore, this article starts from the perspective of dual innovation to explore the impact of utilization innovation and exploratory innovation on regional economic resilience, in order to provide some countermeasures and suggestions for improving regional economic resilience.
First, by combing the literature on dual innovation and regional economic resilience, the theoretical mechanism of dual innovation affecting regional economic resilience is proposed; secondly, based on the panel data of 30 provinces China from 2008 to 2023, the levels of utilization innovation, exploratory innovation and regional economic resilience are measured, and the time series evolution characteristics of dual innovation and regional economic resilience are analyzed; the impact of dual innovation on regional economic resilience and its regional heterogeneity across the eastern, central, and western regions are analyzed. The mediation role of industrial structure upgrading in this impact is also tested; Finally, through the spatial Durbin model, the spatial spillover effect of dual innovation on the regional economic resilience of the province and neighboring provinces is explored from a spatial perspective.
The research results show that: (1) From the current situation analysis results, utilization innovation, exploratory innovation and regional economic resilience show an overall upward trend, and the regional gap is significant. The eastern region is in the leading position in dual innovation and regional economic resilience, followed by the central region, and the western region has the lowest level. (2) From the perspective of the baseline regression analysis, dual innovation can significantly improve regional economic resilience. The Marketization level, population density, environmental optimization, Financial development level and social consumption level have a positive impact on regional economic resilience, while human capital has a negative impact on regional economic resilience. The robustness test results show that the impact of dual innovation on regional economic resilience is reliable. From the perspective of regional heterogeneity, the effects of utilization innovation and exploratory innovation on the western region are the most significant, followed by the effects on the eastern region. The effect of dual innovation on regional economic resilience in the central region is relatively weak. (3) From the perspective of the impact mechanism analysis, dual innovation can improve regional economic resilience by promoting the upgrading of industrial structure. Among them, the effect of utilization innovation on regional economic resilience is better than that of exploratory innovation on industrial structure upgrading. This is related to the fact that enterprises tend to choose innovation methods with lower risks, strong Market adaptability and stable returns. (4) From the perspective of spatial effect analysis, the spillover effect of dual innovation is significant, which can enhance the regional economic resilience of itself and neighboring provinces. Among them, the spatial spillover effect of exploratory technological innovation is better than that of utilization-based technological innovation. This is related to the fact that the innovative results and advanced technologies of exploratory innovation have a more significant driving effect on surrounding areas through the channels of knowledge sharing and technology diffusion, further promoting the innovation capacity and economic resilience of other regions. In contrast, utilization-based innovation relies more on the optimal application of existing technologies and resources. Although it can promote economic growth in the short term, its long-term support for regional economic resilience is relatively limited because it usually focuses more on improving the utilization efficiency of existing production factors rather than creating new growth drivers. Finally, based on the conclusions of the study, targeted countermeasures and suggestions are proposed, such as strengthening the dual innovation coordination mechanism, balancing long-term and short-term economic goals; promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure and promoting sustainable development of regional economy; promoting regional innovation resource sharing and enhancing regional economic coordination capacity; improving the innovation ecosystem and consolidating the foundation of dual innovation, in order to provide valuable reference and strategic guidance for enhancing regional economic resilience. |
