摘要	In this paper, the author employed the clustering method to analyze great differences in the development of the population quality in western China, so as to provide strategic suggestions on improving it, which is based on the characteristics for western China population quality and the western China social and economic development; By considering the 12 western provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) as the fundamental research unit, the author built a suitable comprehensive assessment index system for the population of western China. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group.
