摘要	Since the approach of content-based instruction （CBI） has been widely applied in all kinds of learning contexts in thepast twenty years, there has been a great amount of discussions about its potential benefits for second language （L2） and foreign lan-guage （FL） learning. This paper reviews the literature as well as research about CBI, focusing on its development and characteris-tics. Pedagogical implications for classroom teachers to achieve the balance between language instructions and content teaching areexplored as well.
