    China's economic development has entered a new normal. At present,

China is facing the situation of the superposition of three periods: the

shift period of speed growth, the painful period of structural adjustment,

and the digestion period of early stimulus policies. China's economy is

large but not strong, the growth rate is fast but not good, and the support

ability of scientific and technological progress for economic and social

development is insufficient. This is the Achilles heel of China's big economy, If the power problem can not be better solved, the healthy and

sustainable economic development and the realization of the "two

centenary goals" will be difficult to achieve, and the Chinese dream will

be difficult to realize. Accelerating the progress of science and technology

is crucial for the current high-quality development of China's economy.

Marxist theoretical system contains a wealth of ideas about scientific and

technological progress driving economic development. Based on China's

reality, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to guide China

to accelerate scientific and technological progress driving economic development,build an innovative country and realize socialist modernization.

    Through combing and summarizing Marx's classic works, this paper

summarizes Marx's thought of science and technology progress driving

economic development into two parts: first, the productivity effect of 

science and technology progress driving economic development; Second,

the social development effect of economic development driven by scientific and technological progress. After the founding of new China,

China's core leadership has developed and innovated Marx's thought of

economic development driven by scientific and technological progress,

and each component has come down in one continuous line and constantly sublimed, which is embodied in the transformation from

"marching towards science" to "innovation is the first driving force

leading development", from "self-reliance and making foreign things

serve China" to "independent innovation road with Chinese characteristics"

From "scientific and technological development depends on talents" to

"people are the most critical factor of scientific and technological innovation", and from "scientific and technological system under the planned system" to "modernization of governance system and governance capacity". Through the political economy analysis of the economic development driven by the progress of science and technology,it is found that the mechanism of the economic development driven by the progress

of science and technology is mainly manifested in two aspects: the organic

composition of the progress of science and technology and labor productivity,and the organic composition of the progress of science and technology and capital. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the economic development driven by scientific

and technological progress has made rich achievements.The output value of high-tech industry has been growing continuously,the number of scientific and technological talents has increased rapidly, and the contribution rate of scientific and technological progress to economic development has gradually increased. However, the economic development driven by scientific and technological progress is still faced with the problems of the loose combination of science and technology

and economy In the new era, we should strengthen the cooperation

between industry, University and research,promote the transformation and

application of scientific and technological achievements, promote the

reform of scientific and technological system and mechanism, optimize

the environment for economic development driven by scientific and

technological progress, deepen the reform of state-owned enterprises,

and strengthen the construction of their independent innovation ability.
